Congratulations to Vincent Conway and his dedicated team from East Galway Athletic Club on the excellent organisation of the 8 km. Road Race at Castleblakeney which raised much-needed funds for the Oncology Unit at U.C. Hospital, Galway. But . . . where were all the various County Galway club singlets? This race was not well-supported by the various Galway clubs. Some had as few as two participants, some had none at all. With a huge surge in the popularity of running in the past decade, this is a question which needs to be answered. Why did the clubs not support this worthy event? A big personal thank you to the lovely lady who made some beautiful non-meat sandwiches with produce from her own garden for the after-race refreshments! |
